Overview
The 7th International Workshop on In Situ Visualization (WOIV) was held in conjunction with ISC High Performance 2023 in Hamburg Germany on May 25, 2023. This workshop brings together international practitioners of in situ visualization to discuss the state-of-the-art in in situ visualization libraries and techniques. In situ visualization is becoming increasingly necessary at KAUST for areas such as climate science. This is doubly important with the upcoming Shaheen III system which will produce more data at a faster rate than ever before. By utilizing in situ techniques KAUST practitioners can analyze more of their data more quickly, reducing the time to scientific discovery.
Impact
WOIV is impactful to KASUT through the KVL's involvment in it's organization and contributions to its program. This year James was co-chairing the organization of the workshop, while Thomas is a member of the Steering Committee. The KVL has regularly helped to organize WOIV as a means to contribute back to the community while staying current on the trends of in situ visualization. This helps to promote KAUST and KAUST research to the broader scientific community. This year James and Thomas along with others at KAUST contributed a paper to WOIV, promoting KAUST software and research.
