Overview
KVL collaborated with KAUST Ph.D. student Daria Poloneeva on the 3D analysis of new membrane technology that uses ordered macroporous ZIF-67 as filler resulting in improvements in separation of propylene from propane. KVL scientist Ronell Sicat provided expert guidance on the pre-processing, segmentation, and 3D analysis of SEM tomography images of the membranes using Avizo. KVL also provided the powerful workstation as well as pen and tablet interface that significantly sped up the process of segmentation and analysis of the membrane scans.
The findings of this research have recently been published at the journal Small (2022 journal impact factor 13.3) with the following details:
D. Poloneeva, S. J. Datta, R. Sicat, R. Khairova, L. Garzon-Tovar, A. Bavykina, M. Eddaoudi, J. The work was done in collaboration with the Catalysis Center (PI Prof. Jorge Gascon) and Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials Center (PI Prof. Mohamed Eddaoudi) at KAUST.
